Job Description

The State of Arizona is seeking a Property and Liability Claims Adjuster experienced in handling high-exposure, politically sensitive claims and lawsuits, including:

Bad faith

Medical malpractice
Highway design
DES/CPS care, custody & control
Employment claims
Auto liability & personal injury
Fatalities & serious bodily injury
Constitutional rights violations
Large property losses

You will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex claims filed against the State, pursue subrogation recoveries, collaborate with the Attorney General's Office, prepare litigation files, and work within your assigned settlement authority.

Major Responsibilities

• 30% – Analyze investigative materials, determine liability, assess settlement values, document and gather physical evidence
• 25% – Determine coverage, conduct factual investigations, interview witnesses, law enforcement, agency staff, and gather statements
• 15% – Research and apply tort/contract law; prepare claims for litigation
• 10% – Gather evidence; collaborate with AG's Office during discovery and deposition prep
• 10% – Conduct cost-benefit analyses; engage appraisers, experts, consultants; obtain authority; negotiate settlements; prepare closing documents
• 10% – Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• 4+ years Claims Experience
• 3+ years Property & Liability Claims
  Experience handling complex, high-exposure or sensitive claim types

Preferred Skills

Arizona Adjuster's License

• Proficiency with Google Suite
