What You'll Do

As an Auto Underwriter, you will play a key role in evaluating insurance applications, determining risk, and ensuring fair and accurate premium decisions. You will collaborate with agents, field staff, and internal teams to deliver exceptional service while maintaining underwriting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review applications, reports, and supporting documents to assess risk.
• Determine appropriate coverage, rates, and terms in accordance with company guidelines.
• Accept, decline, or modify risks to ensure profitability and compliance.
• Collaborate with field agents, claims, and other departments to resolve underwriting issues.
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced underwriters or field staff as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of underwriting practices, laws, and industry trends.

Requirements to Succeed

Underwriter:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent work experience).

Intermediate Underwriter:

• Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Completion of Associate in Insurance (AINS) preferred.

Senior Underwriter:

• Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Completion of Associate in Personal Insurance (API) or CPCU coursework preferred.
