Job Summary

Powercon Corp is a leading switchgear manufacturing company dedicated to providing high-quality electrical solutions. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Supervisor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations in the sheet metal shop, including laser cutting, punching, forming, bending, grinding, and assembly of sheet metal components.
  • Assign tasks and manage scheduling of shop personnel to meet production goals and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor work orders and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to interpret drawings and fabrication requirements.
  • Ensure quality standards are met by checking parts for accuracy, finish, and adherence to tolerances.
  • Enforce safe work practices and proper use of tools and equipment in accordance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff and the Sheet Metal Manager to report and address equipment issues or preventive maintenance needs.
  • Support and promote continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, material usage, and workflow.
  • Train and coach team members; encourage cross-training and skill development across various fabrication processes.
  • Maintain daily logs of production, material usage, labor hours, and scrap.
  • Assist in implementing new equipment, technology, or layout changes to support scaling operations under the direction of the Sheet Metal Manager.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong working knowledge of fabrication techniques such as CNC punching, laser cutting, press brake forming, and assembly.
  • Experience in electrical enclosure or switchgear manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with production scheduling, inventory systems, and basic ERP/MRP software.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, team-oriented approach.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S and continuous improvement is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple departments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience operating or overseeing automated sheet metal machinery or robotic welding systems
  • Understanding of electrical enclosure standards and fabrication requirements
  • Proficiency in reading or using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for basic manufacturing support

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing floor setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and occasional lifting.

Requires standing, walking, and working in a hands-on production environment.
