The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all maintenance activities to ensure the optimal operation and appearance of the facility and equipment, while adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations. This role involves leading a team, implementing preventive maintenance programs, managing budgets, establishing key performance metrics, and responding to emergency maintenance needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Adhere to performance standards for health, safety, environmental considerations, and quality of workmanship.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Hire, train, mentor, and supervise maintenance staff and external contractors; schedule work assignments and evaluate performance to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Maintenance Operations: Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive / predictive maintenance (PM) programs and corrective repair work on equipment, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and plumbing systems, as well as general building structure and grounds.
  • Conduct regular site and equipment inspections to identify maintenance needs, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime. Analyze equipment failures to identify root causes.
  • Develop and enforce maintenance procedures and safety protocols, ensuring all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Monitor and control the maintenance budget, manage spare parts inventory, and order new supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and expenses, preparing regular reports for management.
  • Coordinate with other departments and management to address maintenance concerns and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Set annual goals for direct reports aligned with company objectives and define key performance indicators to measure maintenance team results.
  • Assist with installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment or system modifications.
  • Exhibits and practices the Third Coast Way and fundamental behaviors.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or vocational certification in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) and safety procedures for handling hazardous chemicals.
  • Proficiency in electronic maintenance management systems.
  • Strong planning and organizational knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Work Experience:
  • 35 years of experience in a maintenance position.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Advanced proficiency in maintenance systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to coach, develop, and lead teams effectively.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to explain proposals, reports, and findings clearly.
  • Ability to build relationships across functional groups and work collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to deal well with ambiguity.
  • Resultsoriented, driven, versatile, and adaptable under pressure.
  • Current driver's license required; certifications in safety, mechanical, or electrical skills recognized.
Physical Demands:

The role requires the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), climb ladders, and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions and environments. Flexibility to be on call for emergencies and / or urgent situations is often necessary.
