Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. Duties

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, documenting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained
  • Administer medications following prescribed care plans and document medication administration securely in compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Support clients during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and independence
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning client living areas and ensuring safety hazards are addressed promptly
  • Follow detailed care plans developed by healthcare professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support tailored to each individual's needs
  • Use patient observation skills to identify potential health concerns or behavioral changes, escalating issues appropriately
  • Operate specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely during transfers while practicing proper body mechanics for heavy lifting tasks
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate comprehensive care strategies for residents

Experience

  • Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in home health or home & community care environments that involve patient monitoring and caregiving tasks
  • Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, autism support, or hospice care is advantageous
  • Familiarity with medication administration protocols and HIPAA compliance standards is essential
  • Hands-on experience with patient observation, vital signs measurement, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Previous roles involving social work or long-term care provide valuable insight into holistic resident support strategies
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or specialized caregiving credentials are a plus
