At Strive Recovery of Fort Wayne, our Tech Leads play a vital role in supporting daily operations, patient safety, and team coordination. This position is ideal for an experienced Behavioral Health Technician who demonstrates strong leadership skills, reliability, and the ability to support both patient care and operational flow, including transportation needs.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Tech Lead / Primary Driver who will provide direct patient support while also serving as a day-to-day resource for the Behavioral Health Technician team. This role includes acting as the primary driver for patient transports and assisting leadership with coordination, coverage, and accountability during assigned shifts.
The Tech Lead / Primary Driver does not function as a manager but provides guidance and support to ensure smooth unit operations under the direction of nursing and clinical leadership.
Shift: 1st shift 10:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday
Occasional flexibility may be required based on operational needs.
Job Responsibilities
Provide direct patient support and maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
Serve as a resource and point of support for Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts
Assist with coordinating daily tech assignments and coverage needs
Support adherence to facility rules, structure, and expectations
Communicate unit needs, concerns, and observations to nursing and leadership
Coordinate and provide training to existing and new behavioral health technicians
Assist with onboarding and informal mentorship of new technicians
Respond to incidents and emergencies in accordance with facility protocols
Document observations, incidents, and interventions accurately and timely in the EMR
Primary Driver Responsibilities
Serve as the primary driver for patient transports, including admissions, discharges, appointments, and transfers as assigned
Ensure safe transport practices and compliance with facility transportation policies
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety checks, and required documentation
Coordinate transport schedules with admissions, nursing, and leadership
Communicate delays, concerns, or issues related to transport promptly

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience as a Behavioral Health Technician or similar role required
Experience in substance use disorder or behavioral health treatment strongly preferred
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to provide leadership and guidance without formal supervisory authority
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to remain calm, professional, and patient-focused in high-stress situations
Reliable attendance and ability to work independently when needed
