About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join Lockheed Martin's Rotary and Mission Systems' C4ISR team on a remote basis. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining a production-grade AWS-based Data Lake and Digital Framework for a non-DoD customer. The Data Engineer will develop high-throughput data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, cataloging, and serving data critical to AI/ML, command-and-control applications, and unified HMI systems. Collaborating closely with AWS Infrastructure Architects, AI/ML Engineers, Software Developers, and other cross-functional teams, you will ensure data quality, security, and optimal performance across the entire mission workflow, from detection to recovery. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a one-of-a-kind project aligned with Lockheed Martin's strategic goals and commitment to innovation.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional data engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years designing and operating AWS-native data lakes for mission-critical or high-volume workloads
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty (required)
  • Solutions Architect – Professional certification (highly desirable)
  • Proven experience working in SAFe/Agile environments with cross-functional teams
  • U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the architecture of the AWS Data Lake, including raw, curated, and analytics-ready zones, with lifecycle management policies
  • Build and maintain high-throughput ingestion pipelines utilizing schema-on-write and schema-on-read strategies
  • Develop data transformation processes, manage metadata, and ensure data security and governance
  • Collaborate with system architects, AI/ML engineers, and software teams to ensure seamless data integration and performance
  • Implement and optimize data pipelines using AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Kinesis, Redshift, Athena, and others
  • Integrate MBSE data from Cameo to DOORSNEXT into data pipelines for comprehensive data management
  • Support data quality, security, and compliance standards throughout the data lifecycle
