About The Role
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Senior Data Scientist – Forecasting to join our dynamic Data Science team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying sophisticated predictive forecasting solutions that directly influence business planning, revenue management, and operational efficiency across Hyatt's global properties. You will own the end-to-end development of forecasting platforms, leveraging your expertise in time series analysis, causal inference, and anomaly detection to generate actionable insights and optimize forecasting accuracy. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including engineering, data, and business stakeholders will be essential to ensure seamless integration and deployment of data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning and analytics, mentor junior team members, and uphold Hyatt's standards of ethical data science, fairness, and transparency.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; PhD preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in predictive modeling, time series forecasting, causal inference, and anomaly detection
  • Expertise in time series modeling techniques including ARIMA, SARIMA, Exponential Smoothing, Holt-Winters, and deep learning architectures such as LSTM/RNN
  • Proficiency in feature engineering, forecast validation, and model performance metrics (RMSE, MAE, MAPE, SMAPE)
  • Strong knowledge of causal discovery methods and causal inference techniques
  • Experience developing anomaly detection systems using statistical or machine learning approaches
  • Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Statsmodels, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and SQL
  • Experience working with large datasets in cloud environments such as AWS
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the end-to-end development of Hyatt's forecasting platform, including building scalable data pipelines and advanced time series models for demand, occupancy, and revenue forecasting
  • Manage model selection, back-testing, deployment, and performance optimization in production environments
  • Design, develop, and maintain anomaly detection systems to identify irregularities in forecasted and historical KPIs, enabling automated alerts
  • Apply causal inference and causal graph methodologies to uncover true performance drivers and generate actionable insights for strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of data-driven solutions and clear communication of insights
  • Monitor and refine model performance continuously, adapting algorithms to evolving business needs and real-world data
  • Create comprehensive documentation for models, workflows, and methodologies to facilitate knowledge sharing
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure robustness, scalability, and reliability of forecasting models
  • Present insights, findings, and product outcomes to stakeholders in a clear and impactful manner
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in machine learning, analytics, and optimization, integrating innovative techniques into projects
  • Mentor junior data scientists, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development
  • Uphold ethical standards in data science practices, ensuring fairness, transparency, and integrity in all solutions
