The General Contract Estimator at Reyes Group, LTD plays a critical role in the successful planning and execution of large-scale commercial concrete construction projects. This position is responsible for analyzing project documents, preparing detailed cost estimates, and supporting project teams through all phases—from bidding to closeout. The estimator collaborates closely with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, and clients to ensure accurate pricing, risk assessment, and scope clarity. A strong understanding of cast-in-place concrete, blueprint reading, and construction methodologies is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects in both public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and related documents to prepare accurate time, labor, and cost estimates for work including structural concrete, excavation, support of excavation, and utilities (storm, sanitary, watermain).
- Manage multiple estimates concurrently and collaborate with field personnel to resolve technical questions, RFIs, and change order issues.
- Determine project requirements by studying design documents, client expectations, and performance standards.
- Lead estimating efforts for hard-bid, negotiated, and design-build projects in both public and private sectors.
- Prepare job packages, assist with scheduling, track job costs, manage permitting, and professionally interface with clients, owners, and subcontractors.
- Develop thorough quantity takeoffs and complete all pricing elements, including labor, materials, buyout items, equipment, and crane costs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and evaluate plans, specifications, and proposals to define scope of work.
- Incorporate safety considerations into estimating decisions, methods, and construction approaches.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
- Assist Project Managers in evaluating project risks, costs, and feasibility.
- Lead the project buyout process in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Mentor and develop estimating staff and support team growth through recruitment and training.
Qualifications:
- 10–15 years of proven experience estimating large civil, self-perform projects.
- Strong knowledge and field experience in structural concrete, excavation, support of excavation, and utilities (storm, sanitary, watermain).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical and legal documents.
- Familiarity with related structural products (joists, deck, stairs, rails, anchor rods, etc.).
- Ability to define scope of work, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
- Proficient with construction terminology, estimating software, and general computer applications.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with Tekla (preferred, not required).
- Proficiency with HCSS estimating software.
License/Certification:
- Valid Driver's License (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree as well as industry experience (Preferred)
- Professional Certification with industry experience (Required)

Pay: $75, $90,000.00 per year
