Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care across various settings, including long-term care, assisted living, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. This role requires a strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and dignity, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations such as seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring specialized care like Alzheimer's or memory care. Experience with EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation is preferred. The CNA will play a vital role in supporting licensed nurses and healthcare professionals in delivering comprehensive patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately and report changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by licensed nurses, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and aseptic techniques.
- Support patients with specialized needs such as catheter care, wound care, or dementia and Alzheimer's care.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols and proper medical aseptic techniques.
- Document patient information meticulously in EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility exercises to promote safety and comfort.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients across various care settings including ICU, emergency departments, hospice, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and post-acute care environments.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care plans are followed.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical-surgical units, long-term care facilities, assisted living, or hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU environments.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs monitoring.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures (preferred) and assist with medication administration accurately.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols.
- Experience working with diverse populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient service and documentation purposes.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as DME training or hospice care experience are advantageous.
