About The Role

Under direction of the Director, Project Management Office, the Project Manager will serve as a leader with technical and process-oriented expertise driving the successful delivery of complex initiatives across the credit union.  This position is responsible for managing projects from inception to completion, leveraging advanced knowledge of project management frameworks and technical understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, digital transformation, and banking operations.

The Project Manager will work in close partnership with project leaders across the organization, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and seamless execution of cross-functional initiatives. In this role you may act as a project coordinator supporting a project lead in facilitating planning, resource allocation, and execution to achieve defined objectives.

This position is fully on site and will require travel to Ventura, CA.

What You'll Do

The Project Manager must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, have a proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving and ensure that all projects deliver measurable value to the credit union's members and business operations.

  • Project Planning and Execution: Effectively apply Agile project (Scrum) methodology, Waterfall, or Hybrid approaches and enforce standards. Develop Project Charters, business cases, and project status reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders to understand the needs and assess business processes and workflow.   Work with analysts, vendors, and end users to create and execute project plans and schedules.
  • Project Risk Management: Work directly with the head of Risk Management to identify potential projects and/or strategic risks.  Ensure projects meet cybersecurity, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources effectively, ensuring optimal utilization to meet project goals.  Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Process and Governance: Support IT governance, Change Management, and post implementation review for BAU (Business-As-Usual) operations handoff.  Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and stored securely.
  • Communication: Provide regular project updates to stakeholders ensuring transparency and clear communication throughout the project lifecycle. Organize and facilitate project meetings, discovery sessions, and stakeholder check-ins. Resolve and escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project delivery and efficiency. Stay current on project management and provide expertise.

What We're Seeking

  • Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Comparable direct experience will be accepted in lieu of formal education.
  • 4+ years' experience managing or coordinating projects, preferably in a financial institution or technology environment. Including advanced knowledge of project management frameworks i.e. Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid
  • Strong technical acumen in IT systems, infrastructure, and digital transformation projects. 
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, Planview, or similar tools).

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Preferred Memberships/Experience: PMP or Project Management Institute, CISSP, CISM, or Scrum Agile experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union products and services.  In addition to knowledge of the Credit Union's electronic data processing
  • Exceptional organizational skills, proactive approach to risk management, and problem-solving.
