The Assistant Controller will be responsible for mentoring and directing a team, guiding accounting processes, the general ledger, and other key accounting areas. This person will be working closely with Operations Leaders to be a part of driving the business.

This role is four days in office, one day work from home: no long hours at month end close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily accounting activities and general ledger functions, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in line with accounting standards.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as management reports and presentations, to support business needs and inform stakeholders.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met, accounts are reconciled, and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitor actual performance, and provide analysis of variances to support effective financial planning.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support key business decisions and partner with senior leadership to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in projects to optimize financial systems and tools to improve reporting accuracy and streamline accounting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
  • CPA required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with a robust ERP system
  • Outstanding leadership and communication abilities
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and effectively manage multiple priorities
