Summary
Bridging Gapss is a compassionate community-based organization committed to empowering children and families with emotional, mental, and physical support. As a certified provider of the Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) waiver program, our mission is to help children with disabilities live fulfilling lives in their homes and communities.

We are seeking a reliable and nurturing Direct Support Professional to join our team on a 1099 contract basis. The purpose of this position is to provide short-term, temporary relief to primary caregivers by supporting children and youth with disabilities in a safe and engaging environment within the home or community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this position. Other duties may be assigned:

• Provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for children and youth with disabilities.
• Supervise and interact with children in a positive, supportive manner.
• Assist with activities of daily living as needed, such as feeding, dressing, and mobility support.
• Create a calm and structured environment that aligns with the child's individual care plan.
• Communicate effectively with families and report any concerns or changes in behavior.
• Support children in community integration activities as appropriate (e.g., going to the park, events, etc.).
• Maintain accurate documentation of respite services provided, including time logs and progress notes.
• Promote independence and self-determination in youth through respectful and encouraging support.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times.
• Follow all HIPAA, agency policies, and CLTS program guidelines.

Minimum Training and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Background in caregiving, child development, special education, or social services is a plus.

Licensure and Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.
• Must pass caregiver background check and any state-mandated training.

Supervision

• This position does not supervise others.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift, move, or assist with mobility (up to 30 lbs).
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and playing with children.
• Travel for in-home or community-based services is required.

Work Environment

• Work takes place in family homes or community settings.
• May involve exposure to unpredictable environments or behaviors.
• Evening and weekend availability may be needed based on family needs.
