Summary
Bridging Gapss is a compassionate community-based organization committed to empowering children and families with emotional, mental, and physical support. As a certified provider of the Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) waiver program, our mission is to help children with disabilities live fulfilling lives in their homes and communities.
We are seeking a reliable and nurturing Direct Support Professional to join our team on a 1099 contract basis. The purpose of this position is to provide short-term, temporary relief to primary caregivers by supporting children and youth with disabilities in a safe and engaging environment within the home or community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this position. Other duties may be assigned:
- Provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for children and youth with disabilities.
- Supervise and interact with children in a positive, supportive manner.
- Assist with activities of daily living as needed, such as feeding, dressing, and mobility support.
- Create a calm and structured environment that aligns with the child's individual care plan.
- Communicate effectively with families and report any concerns or changes in behavior.
- Support children in community integration activities as appropriate (e.g., going to the park, events, etc.).
- Maintain accurate documentation of respite services provided, including time logs and progress notes.
- Promote independence and self-determination in youth through respectful and encouraging support.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times.
- Follow all HIPAA, agency policies, and CLTS program guidelines.
Minimum Training and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Background in caregiving, child development, special education, or social services is a plus.
Licensure and Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.
- Must pass caregiver background check and any state-mandated training.

Supervision
- This position does not supervise others.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift, move, or assist with mobility (up to 30 lbs).
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and playing with children.
- Travel for in-home or community-based services is required.
Work Environment
- Work takes place in family homes or community settings.
- May involve exposure to unpredictable environments or behaviors.
- Evening and weekend availability may be needed based on family needs.
