hands-on Electrical Engineer
to support large-scale capital and automation projects at one of its flagship U.S. facilities. This site is undergoing major investment — including new presses, robotic automation, and expanded recycling capabilities — with over
$40M in planned CAPEX projects
in the next few years.
'This is an exciting opportunity for an
Electrical Engineer with strong PLC experience
who wants to play a central role in designing, improving, and automating production systems at a highly complex industrial facility. You'll work closely with engineering, maintenance, and equipment suppliers to design, upgrade, and install high-power systems and automation cells used across multiple production lines.
The role combines
project leadership, PLC troubleshooting, and hands-on system design
, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems on the floor while managing high-impact engineering initiatives from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute capital projects from scope development through installation and hand-off to operations.
- Design, specify, and oversee installation of electrical systems and controls for high-power extrusion and fabrication equipment.
- Review, modify, and troubleshoot PLC code (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell – ladder logic).
- Develop and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control panel designs.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional plant teams to ensure project safety, performance, and compliance.
- Support FAT/SAT testing, startup, and commissioning of automated machinery, robotic cells, and new extrusion lines.
- Evaluate transformer and switchgear capacity, verify safety circuits, and support long-term power reliability projects.
- Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability, efficiency, and system uptime.
Ideal Background
- 5–10+ years of Electrical Engineering experience
in a manufacturing, machine-building, or automated production environment. - Degree:
Bachelor's or Associate's in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (non-degreed candidates considered with 10+ years of equivalent experience). - Strong understanding of
PLC-controlled systems (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell)
— able to review, modify, and troubleshoot code. - Proven experience with
480V and 3-phase electrical systems
, industrial power distribution, and system integration. - Proficiency in
reading and modifying electrical schematics
and safety circuits. - Exposure to
capital project execution
, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration. - Familiarity with hydraulics, electro-mechanical systems, and automation design a plus.
- Comfortable working hands-on in industrial environments, including plant floor troubleshooting and installations.
