We are looking for a skilled Material Handler to manage the movement and organization of materials within our Des Moines, Iowa facility. This role is fundamental to our logistics network, ensuring that raw materials, components, and finished goods are efficiently transported, stored, and made available for production and distribution. You will be responsible for operating equipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and adhering to strict safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and has a solid understanding of warehouse operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport materials from receiving to storage areas, and from storage to production or shipping docks.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper placement and securing of goods.
- Maintain accurate records of material movement and inventory levels.
- Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance on material handling equipment.
- Organize and label materials to ensure easy identification and retrieval.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including the mandatory use of PPE, to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Assist in cycle counting and inventory reconciliation processes.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role, including forklift operation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 60 lbs regularly.
- Understanding of warehouse logistics and inventory management systems.
- Strong focus on safety and a commitment to following all safety protocols.
- Proficiency in using various material handling tools and equipment.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to wear all required PPE.
