Founded in 1973, Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) multi-service organization supported by government agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals. KCS aims to develop and deliver a broad range of social service programs to meet the community's various needs.
Position Summary
The Education Department in New Jersey is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to assist with the various education programs offered in New Jersey. This individual will play a key role in coordinating program logistics, managing communication with students and parents, supporting instructors, and organizing events and workshops. The Program Coordinator will also handle administrative tasks, student recruitment, and program development, ensuring the smooth execution of KCS's education initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Oversee and coordinate day-to-day activities for various educational programs which include but are not limited to the annual summer camp, fee-based classes, and the like.
● Assist in strategizing and supporting student recruitment efforts.
● Collaborate with the Senior Program Manager to improve program operations and outreach.
● Organize and conduct outreach activities, training, and educational workshops as needed.
● Communicate with students and parents regarding program updates, schedules, and enrollment.
● Create reports on community needs, impacts, and other relevant information for funders and other reporting needs.
● Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and seminars related to education programs.
● Provide administrative support, including answering inquiries, reaching out to clients, and coordinating with instructors.
● Ensure program records, attendance, and student progress reports are maintained accurately.
● Research funding opportunities, draft and submit grant proposals, and ensure compliance with all deliverables.
● Represent KCS in stakeholder meetings and other education-related coalitions.
● Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Program Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements
● Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required.
● Prior experience with grants, program reporting, or outreach initiatives is a plus.
● Bilingual in Korean and English required.
● Previous experience working in the education field and/or social work field is preferred.
● Strong commitment to public service; non-profit experience preferred.
● Interest and experience in working with the Asian-American community.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Knowledge
● Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of cultural differences and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
● Knowledge of working with children and families and other education related fields is highly preferred.
Abilities
● Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in the language(s) necessary to perform the essential functions of the position (e.g., English, Korean, or both), including the ability to hear, speak, and be understood in the work environment.
● Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Ability to work well both independently and in teams.
● Ability to provide consultation for education related matters highly preferred.
● Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of cultural differences and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
● Ability to handle crisis situations and respond immediately to emergency situations.
Skills
● Excellent oral and written communication skills.
● Excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent multiple assignments, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize efficiently with minimal supervision.
● Self-motivated, highly efficient, strong attention to details.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
● Sharp public speaking skills are highly preferred.

● Availability: Must be available to work on weekdays and potentially over the weekends.
● Location Requirement: Must be able to commute to Tenafly, NJ.
● Must be able to stand and walk a considerable amount of time, almost the entire workday.
● Have hand dexterity to use the computer, office equipment, books, and assist students with activities.
● Carry and lift supplies or objects up to 25 lbs.
● Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions as needed for outreach and community engagement activities.

Compensation: $45,000-$48,000
