Start Date/Orientation is based on meeting ALL below eligibility requirements and mandatory attendance for any one of the following Orientation Groups: December 15-18th Orientation Group, January 5-8th Orientation Group, or January 20-23rd Orientation Group.

Eligibility Requirements:

Enrolled in an accredited ADN, BSN, or BS-MSN nursing program.

Successful completion of first semester of nursing (RN) curriculum

Good academic standing

Valid BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Maryland Board of Nursing CNA license

Internship Scheduling:

Flexibility in scheduling shifts based on intern's availability with no obligation to commit to days, nights, weekends, weekdays, or holiday shifts.

Internship based on an 18-week semester with a work commitment of 60 hours minimum (5-6 shifts) per semester. A minimum of 36 hours per semester are designated to working as a Patient Care Technician and a maximum of 24 hours per semester for intern-RN shadow shifts. May pick-up additional hours as a PCT.

At the recommendation of the RN Educator and maintaining eligibility requirements, Nurse Interns may remain in the Nurse Intern Program through graduation and passing NCLEX without reapplying.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

  • Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor, including assisting patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.
  • Observe patient status and responses.
  • Document and report observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff.
  • Assist preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job
