Summary
The Human Resources Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.This is an in site job.
Education, Licensure and Experience
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources. Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
- One to three years of human resource experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or union environment experience strongly preferred.
- Spanish and English fluency required, both written and verbal.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and HRIS system or ability to learn quickly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following (Please note: This in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. - Coach and advise employees/management through HR sensitive issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions.
- Serve as the point of contact while providing support, guidance and direction to employees/management regarding corrective action matters.
- Assist with investigations concerning employee/management inquiries and complaints.
- Conduct exit interviews, assist with terminations, disciplinary meetings, corrective action documentation as needed.
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase engagement retention.
- Collaborate with managers to identify individual coaching needs at all levels.
- Administer employee life cycle, including new hires, employee changes and terminations with the HRIS system.
- Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, periodically auditing Forms I-9.
- Assist with employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
- Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provide clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with payroll processing, employee questions, corrective errors, and distributing checks.
- Assist with benefits administration serving as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability and retirement plan providers when needed.
- Assist with benefit billing, education events, open enrollment, and filing as needed.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties and retirement celebrations.
- Assist with leave and attendance policy administration.
- Assist with new team member orientation and ongoing training and development.
- Track and document required and ad hoc training.
- Uploading and creating standard mandatory and ad hoc training.
- Assist with recruitment including hiring events, onboarding, screening, interviewing, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the language of the majority cultural group in order to communicate effectively. Must be able to hear enough to understand those individuals as well. Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend documents such as grafts/flow sheets, financials, general professional articles and publications, governmental regulations, safety rules, assignment sheets, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures, and other administrative forms as outlined above.
Must be able to effectively communicate in both individual and group settings. Must be able to present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups.
