What We're Looking For: Controller

We're seeking a detail-driven, forward-thinking Controller to help strengthen and scale Lighthouse's financial operations in support of a growing and organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and consistency of all accounting and reporting functions.

As a trusted financial partner to leadership and project teams, the Controller will bring analytical insight, sound judgment, and a process-improvement mindset to every aspect of the business. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of outcomes, and is motivated to build financial systems and practices that power Lighthouse's continued growth.

What You'll Do

  • Support the CFO in managing the company's overall financial operations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all accounting and reporting activities.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Finance for key financial functions such as monthly closings, reconciliations, WIP schedules, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports to provide meaningful insights for leadership and operations teams.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures to strengthen accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and recording of transactions in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Collaborate with project management, estimating, and operations teams to monitor project performance, job costing, and profitability trends.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and better integration between accounting and operations systems.
  • Demonstrate leadership through influence—supporting, guiding, and mentoring team members across Finance and Operations to promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing financial tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to enhance visibility into business performance for leadership.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 in a controller role.

  • Experience in the construction or electrical contracting industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, WIP Reporting, and construction billing.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Foundation, Workday, or similar) and Excel.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
