Summary:

The Maintenance Tech I is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance responsibilities and repairs for facility and equipment.

Department Goals

  • Performs daily equipment startup; appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on facility mechanical equipment; pump down, pressure discharge and isolation procedures to make systems safe before performing maintenance activities; appropriate PM tasks on hydraulic and pneumatic power systems and facility operating equipment; assigned preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment and steam systems; cut metal machinery using an Oxygen and Acetylene torch.
  • Maintain appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on the facility buildings and production equipment based on time management and priority
  • Diagnose and resolves a variety of facility and equipment problems.
  • Maintain appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on the facility buildings and production equipment based on time management and priority.
  • Monitors mechanical equipment and makes functional adjustments.
  • Evaluate systems for proper operation and efficiency using manifold gauges, thermometers and manometers, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, repair or replace electrical and mechanical processes without deviating from SOP's and GMP's: compressor air ends, pumps, gear boxes and all major components on facility support equipment, hydraulic power packs, air compressor systems, battery changers, cranes, elevators and compactors,
  • Install and repair plumbing, air lines, various types of lighting fixtures and power supplies, and outlets for building and grounds, repair and replace components in facility power distribution panels, motor control centers and equipment power panels
  • Applies basic principles of mechanical maintenance
  • Identifies parts specifications to order replacements
  • Cleans and lubricates machinery and equipment according to specifications
  • Furnishes mechanical recommendations when ordering new parts, machinery and equipment.
  • Install, move and repair new equipment and old equipment
  • Attend team meetings; follows standard operating procedures related to work order and parts requisitions, completes accident/incident reports and logs in all repairs and PM's with MP2.
  • Data entry. Document all repairs and PM's, and pertinent information needed for the maintenance pass down meeting
  • Create and complete work orders and keep track of inventory using MP2 software.

Safety & Quality:

  • Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and procedures related to team member safety, food safety, and quality programs.
  • Work with Safety Department and Production Department to resolve any issues with safety, and/or product quality regarding maintenance issues

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma degree
  • 2 year Electrical or Electronic degree
  • Welding, AC, Mechanic Certificate/Training

Experience:

  • Preferred: 2 years' experience performing equipment/machinery maintenance in a mechanical maintenance trade field
  • Must be able to look at PLC and understand what is happening

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures within the particular field
  • Knowledgeable in use of materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and/or repair of facilities and machinery equipment.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, and other applicable database programs
  • Effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations
  • Problem solving and initiative, and trouble shooting skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Provide professional customer service to customers, employees, vendors

Abilities:

  • Ability to embrace and manage through Value Based Leadership
  • Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
  • Ability to read and understand operating and maintenance manuals
  • Must be able to read and understand PLC
  • Able to perform accurate mathematical calculations
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems by reading electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Occasionally lift and carry 25-50 pounds
  • Requires standing, stooping, walking, sitting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, climbing and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work inside and outside with frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions, temperatures can range from -20 to 130 degrees.
  • Involves routine exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards when entering production areas
  • Must be able to work in cold environmental conditions, routinely 30-45 degrees
  • Must be able to climb and work from a ladder in a safe manner
  • Must be able to work with hands over head.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on cement floor for extended periods of time, up to 10 hours
  • Must be able to lift, reach, and carry objects for extended periods of time as required to complete assignments
  • Requires talking, seeing, hearing and using fine dexterity skills as required to complete assignments
  • Work involves occasional driving and ability to travel in vehicle
  • Must be able to work in office environment, and operate office equipment: printers, scanners, fax, copiers
  • Requires use of handheld data collection device, handheld radio

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $22.50 per hour
