- Provide support and supervision to individuals to assist them with achieving their implementation plan goals.
- Assist individuals to become integrated into the community by providing and/or arranging meaningful community-based activities.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in an individual's house/apartment.
- Assist individuals with daily tasks.
- Treat everyone with civility, kindness, active listening, and professionalism, even in challenging situations.
- Document all services provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complete and maintain current in all required training and certification on an annual or renewal basis.
- Complete and maintain validated certification in the administration of medication.
- Accurately record all medications administered and maintain medications in accordance with the medication policy.
- Provide companionship, supervision, and social interaction to individuals to reduce isolation and promote emotional well-being.
- Engage individuals in conversation, recreational, leisure, and hobby-based activities based on their interests and abilities.
- Accompany individuals to community activities, appointments, social events, and outings to encourage community inclusion.
- Offer prompting and encouragement with daily routines to support independence.
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining positive social skills and relationships.
Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment at all times. - Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while building positive rapport.
- Ensure compliance with all MTC policies and procedures, APD, and other regulatory agencies.
- Maintain a collaborative work environment and work well with others.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, child-care setting, or with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
- Substitution: College or vocational/technical training equivalent to 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours may substitute for the required experience.
- Valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, and automobile insurance required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with individuals served, families, staff, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to be culturally responsive, disability-sensitive, and socially perceptive.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn person-centered practices.
- Ability to support individuals using adaptive and behavioral support strategies as outlined in service plans.
- Strong customer service skills with a compassionate, respectful approach.
- Basic mathematical skills (for documentation and medication recording, as applicable).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Willingness and ability to complete required training, certifications, and medication administration validation as required by policy and regulatory agencies.
- Successful compliance with: Level II Screening, Local Law Enforcement Screening, Drug Screening and Motor Vehicle Record check.
Compensation: $15.25/hour
