Own the engine room of a growing firm's
Tax and SBA Service Lines
. You'll lead the operations function—capacity, scheduling, global resourcing, technology, training, and performance—so partners and client teams can deliver at a high level. This role aligns day-to-day execution with long-term strategy, drives standardization and innovation, and serves as the connective tissue between leadership and the broader ops team.
Work arrangement & cadence
This is a full-time, on-site leadership role (
40+ hours/week
), based in
Manhattan
with
one on-site day per month in Rochester
. Given the scope and seasonality, expect approximately
2,300–2,400 hours annually
to be successful.
What you'll lead
Resourcing & Scheduling
- Run full-cycle resource planning (forecasts, recruiting strategy, global utilization) and the daily/long-term schedule.
- Balance capacity, charge-hour targets, and equitable workloads by team strengths and industry specialization.
- Manage resource pools and job reassignments; own relationships and SLAs
People Development & Performance
- Oversee onboarding, training programs (including for global teams), and ongoing coaching/feedback.
- Lead annual cycles (merit, bonuses, promotions, exits) and partner with HR on
PIPs
. - Build a culture of continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Process, Quality & Integration
- Partner with
Lean Six Sigma
teams/consultants to standardize processes, remove waste, and scale best practices. - Lead portions of firmwide standardization/innovation initiatives; implement Lean6 with newly merged firms.
- Support operational integration for
M&A
and senior hires.
Technology & Data
- Own and optimize the ops tech stack:
STAR, CCH ProSystem fx (PFX), Axcess, SharePoint, Power BI, Workday,
, and related workflow tools; partner closely with Enterprise/IT. - Build dashboards and deliver standardized metrics to Service Line leaders for real-time decisions.
Financial & Strategic Ops
- Support budgeting, partner time optimization, and service-line
pro forma
and long-range planning.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's or CPA preferred
. - Public accounting background with
tax or operations leadership
strongly preferred. - Proven track record managing
large, multi-level teams
. - Project management excellence and
process improvement
chops (
Lean Six Sigma
a plus). - Deep understanding of public-accounting workflows/systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Tech-savvy; fluent with
Workday, Power BI,
(and comfortable mastering new tools).
