Founded in 2023, Baba Bread is a French Artisan Bakery known for crafting authentic artisan breads, pastries, and specialty foods with quality and excellence for Salisbury Farmers Market and Piedmont Farmers Market (Concord). We're seeking a motivated Assistant Baker to join our team and support production as we expand to open our first permanent retail location in early 2026.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Baker, you'll work closely with the Head Baker in preparation, organization, and kitchen maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in daily production and prep for breads, pastries, and other baked goods
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations
• Wash dishes, tools, and equipment, ensuring everything is properly stored
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and organizing finished products
• Anticipate the Head Baker's needs and help keep production running smoothly
• Frequently move flour bags or other items weighing up to 50 pounds across the bakery

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to follow timelines and instructions carefully
• Quick, efficient, and proactive, keeping pace with a busy artisan bakery
• Detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality and consistency
• Strong cleanliness and organizational standards
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
• Able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
• Able to move between walk-in refrigerators and freezers and a hot, noisy kitchen

Desired qualities:

• Culinary degree or minimum 1 year of professional kitchen/bakery experience
• Interest in French baking techniques and/or artisan baking

Work schedule & pay:

• Part-time to start (10–20 hours/week) Tuesday–Saturday, with potential for full-time in short-medium term
• Early morning shifts required
• Competitive hourly pay based on experience, bakery stipend
