Make a Difference Every Day
At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, every warm welcome matters. As a Patient Access Clerk in our Clinics, you'll be the friendly first face of care—helping patients feel supported, informed, and ready for their visit. Your attention to detail and heart for service will help patients navigate registration, insurance, and scheduling with ease.
This is more than a job — it's an opportunity to create meaningful connections, keep care moving smoothly, and be a vital part of a compassionate team.
In This Role, You Will:
- Greet patients, complete registration, and ensure all forms and signatures are accurate and complete.
- Verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and clearly communicate co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs.
- Collect and post point-of-service payments and follow cashiering procedures (open/balance/close cash drawer).
- Schedule appointments using provider templates and support patients with portal access and satisfaction surveys.
- Scan and link insurance cards and documentation into the EHR; maintain accurate demographic and clinical data.
- Handle front desk phone coverage with courtesy and professionalism; route messages and referrals promptly.
- Safeguard PHI and follow all hospital, clinic, and healthcare compliance standards.
- Keep the waiting area welcoming, organized, and safe; report maintenance needs as they arise.
What We're Looking For:
- A caring, people-centered multitasker with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of administrative support experience (healthcare, billing, or insurance experience preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a calm, solutions-focused approach.
- Comfort with basic technology (Microsoft Office); experience with EHR/medical office software is a plus.
- Integrity in handling confidential information and a commitment to patient-centered service.
Why You'll Love Working Here:
- You'll join a supportive, mission-driven team that celebrates teamwork and growth.
- You'll see the real difference a smooth check-in and a kind word make for patients and families.
- We offer professional development, continuing education, and a full benefits package.
- We love to celebrate milestones—big and small (especially yours).
