Plumber Assistant and/or General Laborer

About the Role
We are hiring a dependable and hardworking Plumber's Assistant / General Laborer to support our Gas Service Line Foreman in the Pittsburgh Area. This is an entry level role ideal for someone looking to grow, with opportunities to learn about gas utility.

You'll assist with installing gas service lines, operating tools and machinery, and performing physical labor such as digging, shoveling, and landscaping. We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of gas service lines from main to meter
• Learn and help with plumbing and threading of steel gas pipes
• Support the Foreman in gas meter installations and internal plumbing connections
• Operate hand tools and pneumatic piercing tools ("moles")
• Perform HDPE pipe fusions and steel pipe threading
• Shovel, trench, and backfill work areas as needed
• Complete site restoration: grading, seeding, and basic landscaping
• Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites
• Maintain a clean and organized worksite
• Follow safety procedures and job-specific protocols

Qualifications

• Prior construction, plumbing, or utility work experience preferred but not required
• Willingness to learn pipefitting, gas line installation, and meter plumbing
• Ability to safely lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work in varied weather conditions
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, threading equipment, and pneumatic tools
• Reliable transportation to job sites
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and teamwork skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
