About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive experience in data analysis and business understanding to identify critical metrics, anomalies, and business rules that drive decision-making. You will serve as a bridge between business needs and technical execution, collaborating closely with machine learning (ML) and data engineering teams to translate insights into scalable, robust data solutions. Your expertise will enable internal teams and customers to extract trusted, actionable insights from data, supporting strategic initiatives and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of business processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead complex data-driven projects from conception to delivery.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data analysis, with a focus on business analysis and defining business rules
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
- Strong understanding of business processes, objectives, and challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration
- Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices
- Proven ability to analyze large datasets, identify anomalies, trends, and patterns
- Experience leading data projects, including scoping, success criteria, and deliverables
- Ability to develop and implement data validation and quality checks
- Familiarity with data pipeline concepts and ETL/ELT processes (bonus)
- Experience working with ML/AI teams on data requirements (bonus)
- Understanding of cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift (bonus)
Responsibilities
- Deeply understand business processes, objectives, and challenges to identify key metrics and opportunities for data-driven improvements
- Proactively analyze business anomalies, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions
- Define and document clear, actionable business rules to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across systems
- Collaborate with ML and Data Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications for data pipelines, models, and analytical solutions
- Lead the scoping and definition of data-driven projects, including use cases, success criteria, and key deliverables
- Develop and implement robust data validation and quality assurance processes to maintain data accuracy and reliability
- Design and build dashboards and reports that provide stakeholders with actionable insights and monitor key performance indicators
- Contribute to internal and customer-facing data product strategies, focusing on delivering business value and driving user adoption
- Lead incident response for data quality or business rule issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures
