We are seeking a meticulous and efficient Shipping Clerk to join our vibrant team in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all outgoing shipments. Your duties will include preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, ensuring packages are properly labeled and prepared for transit, and maintaining shipping records. A strong commitment to organization and accuracy is essential for success in this position, contributing to the overall effectiveness of our supply chain and Logistics . A keen eye for detail and adherence to Safety protocols are a must.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all shipping documentation, including bills of lading and shipping labels.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, freight) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Verify that all outgoing packages are accurately picked, packed, and labeled according to customer orders and carrier requirements.
- Conduct final quality checks on outgoing shipments before they leave the facility.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and reconcile shipping logs.
- Communicate with internal departments and external customers regarding shipment status.
- Ensure the shipping area is organized, clean, and safe.
- Operate shipping equipment such as scales, printers, and pallet jacks.
- Adhere strictly to all Safety guidelines and company policies, including the use of required PPE .
- Assist with receiving tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar administrative/warehouse role is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation.
- Understanding of shipping procedures and basic Logistics .
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to perform light to moderate Lifting (up to 30 pounds).
- Must wear required PPE , including safety shoes and gloves when necessary.
- High school diploma or GED required.
