Job Details
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Communications & Public Affairs department as a Communications Advisor.
Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, this position will be responsible for supporting the communications needs of the corporation and individual City of St. Albert departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, Commerce/Business, Social Sciences, or Journalism with 5 years of related experience or a 2-year post secondary Diploma in Public Relations, Advertising, Communications, Journalism, or Business with 7 years of related experience.
- Ability to develop strategic marketing/communications plans, undertake media relations, support issues management, and communicate during a crisis.
- In-depth knowledge of communications planning and issues management techniques, project management, and the change management theory.
- Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication, presentation, liaison and negotiation skills.
- Incident Command System Training (ICS) is considered an asset.
The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) APR designation and/or the International Association of Business Communications (IABC) CMP designation is desirable but not required.
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work
- We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
- There is a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation
- The salary ranges from $83,549 - $102,830 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a Flexible Spending Account and Pension Plan.
- Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
