We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Receiving Clerk will be responsible for the accurate and efficient unloading, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments. This role is crucial for maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring that all goods are processed promptly. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to workplace safety. You will be interacting with carriers, internal teams, and utilizing warehouse management systems. This position offers a great opportunity to grow within the logistics industry. A strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks and verify counts against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Inspect goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report any issues immediately.
- Accurately record received goods into the warehouse management system.
- Stage received items for put-away by other warehouse personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, drivers, and internal departments.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on Safety.
- Adhere to all mandated PPE requirements at all times.
- Be prepared for regular Lifting requirements, some packages can be substantial.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receiving or warehouse environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with WMS software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Comfortable with Lifting packages up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following Safety guidelines.
