À propos
The school-based occupational therapist should tailor treatment sessions to students’ specific IEP goals and their day-to-day needs for support in the classroom based on evidence-based practice (EBP). He or she should be comfortable with use of standardized assessments used in schools and the IEP process. The OT will be required to collaborate closely with staff members involved in their students' educational program. He or she will report to parents, service providers, and other members of the IEP team in meetings while reviewing assessments, current level of function and progress, and data driven, educationally-related goals for students.
Therapists should provide best practice treatment strategies for every student to enhance the effectiveness of interventions. We use a team approach together with parents and caregivers, school administrators, teachers, and other therapists.
