Overview At Sava, we are looking for a driven Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer to join our multi‑disciplinary team and develop a next‑generation biosensing device that will have a global impact. You will be an integral part of the Automation and Equipment Team, involved in the design and development of custom automation equipment and fixtures required for manufacturing as well as R&D. You will produce 3‑D CAD models and 2‑D engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly, ensure full GD&T compliance, generate technical documentation—including design specifications, assembly instructions, BOM, equipment manuals, risk assessments, test reports—and conduct EQ checks prior to release of the equipment.

What You’ll Do
Mechanical design of fixtures, rigs, and jigs for complex automation equipment.
Capture full equipment requirements during the design stage.
Produce 3‑D CAD models and 2‑D engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly, ensuring GD&T compliance.
Generate technical documentation such as design specifications, assembly instructions, BOM, equipment manuals, risk assessments, and test reports.
Conduct thorough, independent design reviews and work autonomously.
Select hardware components for designs and system assembly.
Conduct mechanical EQ checks on equipment.
Commission FAT/SAT on designed systems.
Interpret pneumatic drawings and design pneumatic systems.
Debug & troubleshoot equipment, identifying and rectifying issues in a methodical, safe manner.
Communicate technical information clearly with project team members and stakeholders, host design reviews, and update on project builds.
Drive continuous improvement of existing tools and fixtures to enhance reliability, maintainability, and production efficiency.
Ensure project timelines and targets are met.
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source appropriate materials, components, and technologies.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering continuous learning.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Proactive, self‑starter with 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a regulated field.
Expertise in 3‑D mechanical design software, pneumatic drawing, automation equipment, and assembly craft.
High proficiency in producing GD&T‑compliant CAD models and drawings.
Experience with RQF, URS, FDS, FAT, SAT, IQ stages of equipment.
Ability to work with multi‑disciplinary teams, handle engineering trade‑offs, and manage interface controls.
Creative but realistic problem‑solving and product design.
Skill in analyzing tolerance stack‑ups for robust mechanical systems.
Excellent communication of technical information to stakeholders.
Team player willing to go the extra mile and work autonomously as needed.
Knowledge of market hardware brands.
Experience with PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM).
Bonus Points
Experience designing automation equipment for the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
Proficiency in SolidWorks with the ability to complete designs independently.
Skill in producing drawing packs and detailed 2‑D part drawings for equipment.
