Job Description
Our client is a fast-growing, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with offices across North America. For decades, they've helped tackle complex challenges in mining, water, energy, environment, and infrastructure.
Now they're looking for a Lead Mining Engineer in Vancouver to build and grow their Mining Engineering business in Canada while integrating with their US business counterpart. You'll work with a close-knit, multidisciplinary team of professionals, reporting to the Group Director. This is a leadership role with a strong technical and BD focus - helping clients across BC and Western Canada plan, design, and optimize their mining operations.
What You'll Do
Project Delivery
  • Lead mine engineering projects from concept to completion—feasibility, design, operational support, and everything in between.
  • Be the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring quality, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Apply your expertise in mine design, planning, ventilation, ground control, and production.
  • Manage scope, budget, and schedule to keep projects on track.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a supportive, team-first culture.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to move projects forward.
Business Development
  • Build and grow long-term client relationships across the mining sector.
  • Take the lead on proposals, pursuit strategies, and client engagement planning.
  • Help shape business strategy in collaboration with offices across Western Canada.
  • Stay active in two or three relevant professional organizations.
  • Forecast revenues, negotiate contracts, and drive sustainable growth.
What You'll Bring
  • Master's degree in Mining Engineering (or a related field).
  • 15+ years of consulting experience in mine engineering, with a strong network in BC.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership or project management role.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC (or eligible for registration).
  • Strong relationships with mining companies, regulators, and peers in the region.
  • Proven track record in client development and project delivery.
  • Deep commitment to health, safety, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software and technical reporting.
  • Strong communicator with great attention to detail.
  • Willing to travel to client sites and other offices as needed.
What's in It for You
  • Be part of a respected, employee-owned firm with a strong culture and big ambitions.
  • Work on exciting, multidisciplinary projects that make a real impact.
  • Enjoy flexible work options, full benefits, and paid parental leave.
  • Get support for professional development, including tuition reimbursement.
  • Participate in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (with matching).
  • Access mental health resources through the Employee Assistance Program.
  • Collaborate with a talented, supportive team that values fresh ideas and mentorship.
  • Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
