Our distribution center in Des Moines, Iowa is looking for experienced Forklift Operators to join our essential logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our warehouse. Operating a forklift is a critical function of our operations, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and productivity. You will be an integral part of ensuring that our supply chain runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve inventory.
- Loading and unloading trailers and containers.
- Transporting materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Performing pre-operation inspections on forklifts to ensure they are in good working order.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles and dock doors are clear.
- Accurately recording movement of inventory using scanning devices or other required systems.
- Adhering to all company Safety guidelines and warehouse procedures.
- Properly wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety vests and steel-toed boots.
- Assisting with other warehouse duties as needed, such as order picking or packing, during downtime or as directed by supervisors.
- Participating in inventory counts and stocktaking activities.
- Understanding and adhering to the importance of safe Lifting techniques, even when using equipment.
The ideal candidate must have a valid forklift certification or demonstrated experience. A strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics is essential. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
