Role description Our Water team tackles some of the UK’s most technically challenging projects and AMP8 programmes. We are renowned for delivering complex schemes and collaborate closely with the country’s most prominent water companies and contractors. You will lead multidisciplinary delivery teams on water and wastewater capital projects, applying your technical expertise regionally and across the UK.
Role accountabilities
Ability to self‑start and work independently or as a team member carrying out production, checking, review or approval of complex mechanical design deliverables.
Leading design and advisory services for new and existing water and wastewater conveyance and treatment assets.
Ensuring safety of yourself and others through design leadership and actions.
Technical delivery of multi‑disciplinary projects in a Design Lead capacity using the latest digital design processes.
Identify and develop innovative, optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers.
Lead and coordinate work with multi‑disciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICA).
Establish and grow relationships with clients and delivery partners on technical, commercial and progress matters.
Ensure projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
Mentor and technically supervise colleagues in their professional development.
Line‑manage and develop performance of assigned staff.
Capture key project and technical knowledge, including innovations.
Promote MEICA team capability and achievements internally and externally.
Qualifications & experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field.
Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, CIWEM).
Significant experience and track record in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex engineering projects, preferably in water and wastewater.
Experience working on design and construct projects using digital design platforms.
Team leader with collaborative behaviours.
Feasibility to detailed design stage delivery experience.
