Role Systems Design Engineer – MBDA. We have several exciting opportunities for Systems Design Engineers to join our dynamic systems engineering team. This role involves contributing to the development and enhancement of Command and Control (C2) systems used in air defense weapon platforms. The successful candidates will play a vital part in designing, analysing, and improving software functionalities that enable our systems to operate efficiently in complex and demanding environments. Working closely with cross‑disciplinary teams, including system architects and software engineers, you will support the full product lifecycle—from requirements analysis and system design to testing and deployment. This position offers a unique chance to work on mission‑critical systems that deliver real‑world capabilities to military operators, ensuring national security and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience. Demonstrated experience in systems design or systems engineering within defence or similar high‑technology sectors is essential. Candidates should have a passion for creating innovative solutions, solving complex technical problems, and contributing to the development of sophisticated defence systems. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are crucial for success in this role. Familiarity with software requirements analysis, interface design, and performance evaluation will be highly valued.
Responsibilities As a Systems Design Engineer at MBDA, your responsibilities will include supporting the functional design and development of C2 software systems. You will work closely with system and software architects to analyse and define system requirements, interfaces, and performance criteria. Your role will involve proposing and evaluating design solutions that meet operational needs, ensuring system robustness and reliability. You will investigate customer queries and provide technical insights to resolve issues effectively. Additionally, you will contribute to the generation of technical documentation, participate in system integration activities, and support testing and validation processes. Your work will help optimise complex algorithms, improve system performance, and ensure seamless integration with other battlefield systems, ultimately delivering enhanced operational capabilities for our defence clients.
