We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our logistics team in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of materials within our distribution center. Key duties include operating forklifts and other equipment to load, unload, transport, and stack goods, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records. A strong understanding of warehouse operations and safety protocols is essential. You will be required to consistently use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to all safety regulations, including proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries. This position plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of our supply chain and supporting our overall logistics strategy. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial trucks safely.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and shipping containers.
- Move materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Stack and arrange materials in designated locations, ensuring stability and safety.
- Perform daily inspections of material handling equipment and report any defects.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counting processes.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory levels.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Utilize proper lifting techniques to handle various types of materials.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
- Contribute to the overall success of the logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler, preferably with forklift certification.
- Demonstrated ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Solid understanding of warehouse safety standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of safe lifting practices.
- Familiarity with logistics and inventory management principles.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
