À propos
Looking for more than a corporate clinic? Want to gain hands-on experience with exotic species in a fast-paced, fully equipped hospital? At Creature Comforts—a 24/7 AAHA-accredited independent emergency veterinary practice—you’ll work side-by-side with experienced clinicians and get the chance to grow your skills every day.
We’re currently hiring an Outpatient Veterinary Technician to join our high-energy, deeply committed team. You’ll see everything from routine exams to emergency cases—including birds, reptiles, pocket pets, and other exotic species—while working in a hospital that values curiosity, compassion, and community over quotas and corporate red tape.
This is not a sit-behind-the-desk job. You’ll move, think, communicate, and help real patients—all day, every day. If you're the kind of tech who thrives on momentum and wants to make a difference, this might be the perfect fit.
*Opportunity:*
As part of our outpatient team, you’ll be a vital connection between clients and clinicians—taking histories, running diagnostics, assisting in exams, and making sure patients are cared for with precision and empathy. You’ll see both regular and emergency appointments, work directly with our in-house lab and radiography systems, and gain experience with species most clinics rarely treat.
*Important Requirement:*
You must be able to independently draw blood and place IV catheters on dogs and cats. These core skills are essential to the role. If you’re still developing those abilities, please consider applying for our Animal Care Assistant role instead.
We’ll train you on clinic protocols—but we need someone who already brings clinical competency, stamina, and excellent judgment to the table.
*What You’ll Do:*
* Take detailed patient histories and relay them clearly to doctors
* Place IV catheters and draw blood on dogs and cats without supervision
* Run in-house diagnostics using Abaxis and Idexx equipment
* Perform digital radiographs and assist in outpatient exams and treatments
* Support outpatient cases, including urgent/emergent appointments
* Use Shepherd to document care and maintain accurate records (experience preferred)
* Communicate clearly with CSRs and medical teams to coordinate patient flow
* Educate clients about treatment plans and discharge instructions with empathy
* Practice low-stress, species-appropriate handling for dogs, cats, and exotic animals
* Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized treatment area
*What We’re Looking For:*
* Minimum 1 year of veterinary technician experience
* Must be confident placing IV catheters and drawing blood on dogs and cats
* Experience with Shepherd, Abaxis, Idexx, and radiographs is a plus
* High energy, strong communication, and excellent follow-through
* Passion for learning and working with exotic species
* Ability to stay calm under pressure and keep moving in a busy setting
* Availability to work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) as part of your regular schedule
*Pay & Benefits:*
* Starting at $20/hour for experienced, non-credentialed techs
* Higher rates available for credentialed or exceptionally qualified applicants
* Shift differential provided for hours worked during designated overnight/weekend periods
* Full medical, dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurance at no cost to employees working 35+ hours/week after 90 days
* 401(k) with 3% company match
* Paid CE and in-house training opportunities
* Discounts on pet care and paid team-building events
