Senior Systems Administrator
Design, build, configure, and maintain Linux and Solaris-based development and test environments. Install, configure, patch, and secure systems and network devices following DISA STIGs and cybersecurity best practices. Manage user accounts, Active Directory integration, system documentation, and access controls. Support and secure Cisco routers and switches. Configure and troubleshoot single-board computers (SBCs) from vendors such as Themis, Motorola, and GE, running Solaris, Linux, or VxWorks. Provide system performance tuning, capacity planning, software installation, and mass storage allocation. Automate and virtualize system deployment and management where applicable. Identify and evaluate new vendor products, tracking performance and reliability over time. Serve as a point of escalation for critical incidents, coordinating with helpdesk and engineering teams to resolve system-level issues. Develop and distribute general IT communications, including planned outages and downtimes. Participate in the setup and execution of network testbed systems, including deployment at government and contractor facilities across the U.S. Collaborate with classified environments and maintain strict compliance with security protocols. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. 20+ years of experience in systems administration with Solaris and Linux platforms. 15+ years of experience supporting Red Hat Linux (RHEL 5, 6, 7) and Ubuntu. 15+ years of experience with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches). 15+ years of experience with network test bed systems and SATCOM-related infrastructure (specifically AEHF and Milstar). 10+ years of experience implementing and maintaining systems in compliance with DISA STIGs. Hands-on experience with Themis, Motorola, and GE SBCs. Current Active Top Secret Clearance is mandatory. Strong documentation and communication skills.
