About School-College-Work Initiative
(SCWI)
The dual credit program at Durham College
allows students to participate in post-secondary courses, earning dual credits
that count towards their high school diploma, as well as earning a college course credit that may
count towards a future post-secondary diploma, degree or apprenticeship.
Dual credits engage students through exposure to college courses and
culture while supporting their successful transition to post-secondary
education. Each year, over 2,000 area high school students take a dual credit
program with Durham College. SCWI is proud to be partnered with Durham Catholic
District School Board, Durham District School Board, Kawartha Pine Ridge
District School Board, and Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington
Catholic District School Board.
Position Information:
The
Faculty of Liberal Studies' School College Work Initiative at Durham College is
seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to
increase secondary student engagement, confidence and success in a college
course to teach Basic Electrical (TFBE
Part-time faculty teach up to 6 hours per
week with varied schedules Monday through Friday during regular high school
hours. The majority of courses are delivered as two 75-minute classes in
alignment with the high school timetable and periods. Please note that
part-time recruitment is ongoing and is dependent on when courses are being
taught and the need for faculty to teach.
Academic starting
wages are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.
Upon hire, the incumbent will receive a pay calculation to determine their step
placement within the pay range. Part-time professors teaching a dual credit course
will be paid on the applicable non-post-secondary wage grid which currently
ranges from step 5 ($72.56) through step 21 ($
Professors in this program may teach a variety of delivery models, which could
involve teaching at a high school located in Durham Region, or in some cases,

provincially certified Electrician (309a or 309c or 442a).
