This posting will be used to fill 1 (one) permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly.  It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.  

This job is based in the community of Watson Lake in the beautiful Yukon.

Who we are 

The Government of Yukon's Continuing Care division is known for its exceptional standards, providing clients with the highest level of care and a healthy workplace for staff. The services offered are among the best in Canada, and Yukon's long-term care homes ranked second in a recent report issued by the National Institute on Ageing. Continuing Care's mission is to provide comprehensive care and services, including long-term care, home care, and regional therapy services, to the people of the Yukon. Watson Lake Home Care provides client-centred services in client's homes to support them as they age in place.

Your role

Responsible for the professional nursing care for Home Care clients in Watson Lake, the Home Care Nurse-Home Support Supervisor coordinates client care and collaborates with other Home Care staff (ie. Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists) and community partners, including Liard First Nation. This position involves care coordination for Home Care clients in Watson Lake and surrounding area, including long-term care admissions and hospital discharges. This role requires a Registered Nurse with excellent assessment skills and a passion for community practice. As a supervisor to full-time and on-call home support workers, this position is responsible for recruiting, training, supporting and scheduling staff as they work in clients' homes as part of the home support program.

    Essential qualifications  

    Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Eligible for Registered Nurse registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority
  • Recently applied knowledge of nursing theory, practices, and techniques, gained through direct experience providing care to seniors, adults, and/or children, preferably in a home care setting
  • Team leader and/or supervisory experience

    Conditions of employment 

    You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • TB screening
  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance
  • CPR Level C with AED (completed within the last 30 months)
  • Transportation Dangerous Goods (completed within the last 30 months)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Valid class 5 Drivers License
  • Current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
