We are seeking a Senior Design Manager to join our client's team Infrastructure division in their London office on a permanent basis. You will begin on a major highways scheme in the South of England before moving on to newly secured projects across the region.
Responsibilities
You’ll manage the full design lifecycle, from tender support through construction to handover.
Leading design reviews, progress meetings, and technical workshops with stakeholders, clients, and delivery teams.
Managing internal and external design partners, ensuring smooth communication between engineering teams, consultants, and construction teams.
Reviewing and challenging design information to ensure buildability, cost‑effectiveness, and alignment with project requirements.
Overseeing design risk management, including identifying potential issues early and driving mitigation strategies.
Requirements
Strong civils or infrastructure experience, gained either with a consultancy or a main contractor.
Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or similar)
Experience on civil engineering or major infrastructure projects
Highways experience (advantageous)
Background in Design Management
Strong understanding of construction processes and standards
