Our mission: The overarching purpose of the Chartered Insurance Institute (‘the Institute’) is to educate and support our members to deliver services to the highest professional standards and to advocate for the public good. By doing this the Institute builds and maintain public trust in the insurance, financial planning, and mortgage advice professions.
Our vision: Our vision is that CII and PFS professionals build a world which delivers ever greater financial resilience for individuals and societies more broadly.
Your role: As an IT Operations and Security Engineer, you will lead initiatives to strengthen our IT infrastructure and security posture, ensuring a resilient, scalable, and compliant environment aligned with organisational objectives. You’ll assess current systems, design and implement improvements, and maintain Cyber Essentials Plus certification through proactive monitoring and testing.
You will drive the adoption and optimisation of Microsoft technologies, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, SCCM, and the Defender suite, while embedding robust security controls across all platforms. Managing supplier relationships and deputising for the Group IT Operations & Security Manager, you’ll represent IT in governance and technical forums and collaborate across departments to deliver solutions that support business goals.

This is a hands‑on role for a technical leader passionate about modernising systems and delivering secure, reliable IT services.
You:
You thrive on improving systems and strengthening security across modern IT environments.
You’re confident working with Microsoft technologies like Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, SCCM, and the Defender suite to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
You have a proactive mindset, spotting opportunities for automation and optimisation — PowerShell scripting is second nature to you.
You understand networking and security fundamentals, from Conditional Access and DLP to NSGs and tenant hardening and apply them effectively.
You’re comfortable managing multiple priorities, suppliers, and stakeholders while keeping projects on track.
You bring strong problem‑solving skills and sound judgement to technical and operational challenges.
You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams to align IT solutions with business goals.
You stay curious and committed to professional development, keeping pace with evolving technologies and best practices.
You take ownership, work independently when needed, and step up to lead in critical situations.
In addition to a market‑benchmarked base salary, here are some of the benefits you can expect from CII as a valued colleague:
10% non‑contributory pension
30 days annual leave + bank holidays
Genuinely flexible, hybrid working
Life assurance
