A leading logistics provider in the heart of New York City, New York, is seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join their team. This crucial role supports the seamless operation of our urban distribution hub, managing the intake, storage, and movement of a high volume of goods. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling materials safely and efficiently, ensuring accuracy in inventory tracking, and supporting various warehouse functions. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against documentation.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently.
- Transport materials within the facility, ensuring accurate placement and organization.
- Conduct routine checks on equipment, reporting any maintenance needs.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through proper stock rotation and handling.
- Adhere strictly to all Safety regulations and company policies.
- Ensure the work area is kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Utilize all required PPE, including safety vests, gloves, and eye protection.
- Collaborate with colleagues to optimize workflow and meet operational targets.
- Support other material handling and logistics tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a Material Handler or similar warehouse role is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
- Ability to perform frequent manual Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Must be comfortable working in a busy urban logistics environment.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of Safety and adherence to all protocols.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts if operational needs arise.
- Proficiency in using scanning equipment for inventory management.
