Job Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst to work within our Bristol Genomics Laboratory Informatics Team and as part of the wider South‑West Genomics Laboratory Hub (SWGLH). The role supports laboratory information systems (LIMS) development, analyser integration and reporting requirements for department and commissioners. Main Duties
Develop activity dashboard systems for clinical, management and administrative use. Ensure all processes and applications are properly tested, liaising with users. Create and update documentation for new and existing processes/system developments. Support the Informatics Department in providing accurate and timely datasets to fulfil reporting requirements. Participate in and attend appropriate training courses and development activities relevant to the job as required. Present reporting results to stakeholders and field questions. Person Specification
Education/Training/Qualifications
University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, Healthcare Informatics or equivalent. Formal training or equivalent experience in SQL. Work Experience
Ability to interpret complex information and convey it to non‑technical users. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient use of M365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint). Previous NHS experience in an acute setting (desirable). Experience supporting projects and working in multidisciplinary teams (desirable). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience implementing operational reporting with BI tools such as Qlik Sense, Tableau, PowerBI. Familiarity with PowerBI: report generation, dashboard creation, user permission management. Ability to interpret complex information from disparate sources. Experience in full development lifecycle (design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance). Experience with ETL automation and database development in SQL Server or other RDBMS (desirable). Experience with HL7 messaging and NHS data dictionary standards (desirable).
