Purpose of the Role
An entry‑level engineer working in a small specialist team on large engineering projects. You will work for a senior or principal engineer, producing calculations, drawings and technical reports, undertaking surveys and assessments, and conducting research into new engineering techniques and practices.
Gain experience across a number of niche technical disciplines in the first year. In the second year you will choose two technical areas to continue your education in accordance with your career plan.
Attend internal and client meetings, site and factory visits as necessary.
Support the wider team by organising extra‑curricular activities, leading social events, and engaging with industry through technical lectures, talks and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform system studies to meet client and G99/Distribution Code/Grid Code requirements.
Use software such as AutoCAD, CYMCAP, DigSilent Power Factory, PLS CAD, etc. to carry out your role in accordance with your discipline.
Carry out earthing design and soil test surveys.
Produce simple and conclusive technical reports.
Conduct detailed design work for PV/Wind farm connections and distribution substations up to 132 kV.
Perform cable sizing and route design.
Support senior engineers in delivering projects within time, budget and customer expectations.
Support operational staff and answer technical queries.
Liaise with internal and external clients and suppliers to answer technical queries.
Perform roles and responsibilities within the company’s SHEQ requirements.
Requirements
2:2 or above in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
GCSE English & Maths Grade 4 or equivalent/above.
IT literate – Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), PDF editors and AutoCAD drawing software.
Right to work indefinitely in the UK (no visa sponsorship will be provided).
