Eka Ventures is an early-stage VC firm that invests in consumer technology companies building towards a more healthy, sustainable and inclusive economy. We lead pre-seed and seed rounds with investments of $1-4m. We have $165m AUM and are currently investing out of Fund II.
Since closing Fund I, we have backed some of the most exciting companies in health and sustainable technology, for example Axle Energy, Runna, Foresight Data Machines, Hived, Flok Health, Sourceful and Cyclana Bio.
We are on a mission to prove that backing companies driving positive system change delivers outlier investor returns.
The role (~50% building / ~50% investing)
Core to our mission is finding incredible founders building great companies. Over the last 4 years we have built a data platform that is key to that, having sourced ~50% of our investments to date.
We’re now looking to hire someone to take our data platform to the next level, a person with a genuine passion for both building with data and investing. The role will be split roughly 50:50 between developing the platform and contributing to investment work, with full integration into the investment team.
Building
Design and ship data engineering + ML pipelines that surface high-fit companies aligned to Eka’s impact thesis.
Develop internal tools that improve investment decisions (company/founder/market signals) and automate admin.
Research, prototype, and productionise the latest LLMs, APIs, and data sources. Integrate AI across the fund’s workflows.
Uphold pragmatic quality and buy vs. build sensibly (we have a healthy data budget).
Investing
Find and qualify companies (often via the platform you’ve built).
Speak with founders, run research and analysis, and work closely with Jon Coker and Camilla Dolan on IC materials and due diligence.
Build your and Eka’s network with other VCs and technology leaders.
Leverage Eka’s data platform to design and run ecosystem events that bring together founders, investors, and industry partners.
How you’ll work
You’re a builder who enjoys moving quickly from idea to prototype, iterating to create reliable systems.
Our stack
Heavy use of LLMs for extraction, enrichment, summarisation, and semantic search (OpenAI/Claude/LangChain/RAG)
If you use Cursor, Copilot, or similar AI coding assistants, you’ll likely feel at home.
What we’re looking for
A deep interest in how technology can reshape business models and industries
1-2 years in data science / analytics engineering / ML engineering (or equivalent proof of shipping production systems)
Proven ability to deliver fast, from prototype to reliable pipelines.
Strong Python + SQL on large datasets, confident with APIs and cloud data tooling.
Experience building, tuning, and evaluating ML models. Judgment on when heuristics beat models. Thoughtful around UX when deploying tools to encourage usage.
Curiosity about applying LLMs to sourcing, enrichment, diligence, and ops.
Interest in venture and measurable impact; ability to reason about business models and market structure.
High autonomy, collaborative, generous with knowledge.
