Summary of Position:
As a Baker, you will play a crucial role on the Bakery team by assisting in the preparation and production of a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts. Your attention to detail, creativity, and skill in following recipes will contribute to delivering high-quality, delicious pastries that delight our customers. This role requires a strong work ethic, a passion for baking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Ingredients:
- Measure, weigh, and portion ingredients accurately according to recipes.
- Prepare and assemble all necessary ingredients, such as dough, fillings, creams, and toppings, ensuring they are ready for use in the baking process.
- Baking and Production:
- Assist in the production of a wide range of pastries, including but not limited to croissants, muffins, cookies, quick breads, and artisanal bread.
- Follow recipes and baking instructions meticulously to ensure consistent quality and taste.
- Operate baking equipment, ovens, mixers, and other kitchen tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures, and quality of products to ensure optimal results.
- Decoration and Presentation:
- Participate in decorating pastries with glazes, icings, toppings, and other embellishments to enhance visual appeal.
- Pay attention to detail when arranging pastries for display, ensuring they are presented attractively and neatly.
- Maintaining Cleanliness:
- Keep workstations, equipment, and tools clean and sanitized at all times.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the safety of the products.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the pastry chef and other team members to ensure a smooth production process.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Quality Control:
- Participate in taste testing to maintain consistent quality and flavor of products.
- Identify and report any inconsistencies or defects in products to the supervisory team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years previous experience in a bakery or food preparation setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, measurements, and ingredient functions.
- Familiarity with pastry equipment, tools, and baking ovens.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics in pastry decoration.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient production.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
- Lift heavy bags up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
