Current Projects
The design, installation, operation and funding of a district heating system to serve 3500 homes in Clapham as part of a major regeneration project.
The design and installation of a heat network in a rural community in Cambridgeshire to replace oil boilers in 300 homes with centralised low‑carbon heat generation.
The design and installation of a ground source heat pump system to provide heating and cooling to a new development of 300 homes, a gym and office building in South London.
The design, installation and operation of a new city‑centre wide low‑carbon district heating system for the City of Cardiff.
Developing detailed long‑term decarbonisation plans for existing large‑scale district heating networks to transition from gas‑fired CHP‑led generation to low‑carbon generation.

Role Design Support Engineer – Mechanical, based in Sheffield. The position supports the design and growth of energy centre and heat network infrastructure across the UK, and may involve occasional site visits throughout the country.
Specific Tasks
Grow as a design engineer.
Design hydronic systems and perform system calculations.
Undertake hydraulic and thermal modelling of systems using industry software.
Assist in the design of medium to large‑scale low‑carbon energy systems, heat distribution networks, controls, plant rooms, thermal storage and fuel storage.
Produce detailed drawings, reports and specifications.
Select and specify equipment.
Survey and evaluate existing building energy systems.
Assist in the production of viability and feasibility reports.
Coordinate the work of others and collaborate with engineers of other disciplines.
Provide regular on‑site and off‑site evaluation to ensure design compliance during construction.
Candidate We are looking for an enthusiastic Design Support Engineer with excellent energy engineering design, technical, and software skills who enjoys working collaboratively in dynamic multi‑professional teams, assisting in all aspects of the delivery of projects from inception to completion.
Experience & Knowledge
Degree qualified in Mechanical Building Services or Energy Engineering.
Highly numerate with a comprehensive understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics and fluid hydraulics.
1–3 years of experience in this field.
Experience with CP1/TS1 application.
Working knowledge of UK regulations.
Skills
Understanding of heat and utility networks is desirable.
Competent in AutoCAD.
Good experience in the use of Revit.
Experience using Construction Management platforms such as Procore.
IT proficiency: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and email systems.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficient report writing.
Good organisational, time‑management and planning.
Creative, inquisitive and enjoys solving problems.
Willingness to question and probe.
Remuneration and Info
Base salary range £37 000–£51 000.
