Data Centre/Mission Critical Specialist at TGS Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Employment Type: Full-time
We’re working with a well‑established off‑site MEP specialist delivering innovative, prefabricated energy systems to clients across the UK and Europe. Their projects span commercial buildings, healthcare, education, and high‑rise residential – all designed with sustainability and efficiency in mind.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll help bring these projects to life by producing detailed, build‑ready designs that support low‑carbon infrastructure across a range of sectors.
What you’ll be doing:
Designing electrical layouts including general power, lighting, BMS, CHP, and control systems
Developing control panel schematics and operation descriptions
Supporting commissioning teams during site integration and testing
Producing documentation across all design phases – from concept to construction
Conducting site surveys and integrating new systems with existing infrastructure
Attending client and internal design meetings
Ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and quality standards
Collaborating with the in‑house BIM and contracts teams to streamline delivery
What we’re looking for:
HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical or Control Engineering
At least 3 years’ experience in electrical building services design
Proficiency in software such as Amtech, ElectricalOM, AutoCAD, or Revit
Strong technical writing, communication, and coordination skills
Knowledge of BMS, power systems, and commercial M&E standards
Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks
Bonus experience (not essential):
Previous work on prefabricated or modular energy systems
Familiarity with sustainability standards or decarbonisation goals
Prior exposure to commercial district heating or large‑scale energy centres
