Your role
We are seeking a talented School Performance Senior Analyst to join the Education Data Team at Stockport Council. The successful candidate will work with the Education Data Manager and a School Performance Analyst, leading the School Census submissions and analytics for education attendance and school demographics.
Key responsibilities
Lead and drive the termly School Census statutory data return
Prepare pre-Census activities, delegate tasks, and manage team workload
Cleanse, validate, and link data across systems using SQL, MS Access, and Tableau
Liaise with schools and run reports on DfE platform and Tableau dashboards
Create, edit, and maintain Tableau dashboards on Attendance, Suspensions/Exclusions, Electively Home Educated Children, and Census/demographic profiles
Essential qualifications
Previous experience working with SQL, including writing and editing queries
Experience using Tableau (or Power BI) to produce interactive dashboards
Proficient in MS Excel and other Microsoft tools; experience with MS Access or other relational database systems desirable
Track record of leading projects from scoping to completion, meeting time and quality objectives
Excellent interpersonal skills, high standard of written and oral communication
Ability to work flexibly and support teams in implementing change or delivering key projects
Enthusiasm for personal development, learning new techniques, and improving processes
Strong analytical skills, interpreting information, identifying inaccuracies, and informing solutions
Experience delivering complex data to non-technical audiences with confident presentation style
Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C/Level 4 or higher (or equivalent)
Desirable background
Previous experience in an Education or Education Data environment, especially with systems such as School Management Information Systems within a Council, school, or Academy Trust
